It was a full house at the Clean Energy Council’s Women in Renewables luncheon, one of the main events at the All Energy Australia conference in Melbourne.

Our co-founder Maya Malik spoke on the panel ‘82% and beyond: An economy-wide perspective’. Maya's key points were:

  1. In the 82% & beyond world (Australia's 2030 renewable energy target), managing energy intermittency will be key. This will require a well thought out energy mix with a diverse range of generation sources and an interconnected grid system. Renewable energy plants will need to be strategically placed geographically, supported by long and short-term storage solutions. We will need sophisticated weather modelling systems talking to an intelligent grid.

  2. Consumers will play an increasingly important role in energy supply, storage and balancing the grid. Power consumption can be influenced to align better with renewable generation profiles, reducing energy wastage. By encouraging consumers to adopt new technologies they can both pursue energy self-sufficiency and support grid stability.
