Early-stage project development in Australia

KIMAenergy was appointed by a consortium to originate and develop a 5GW project off the coast of Gippsland, Australia.

Our scope was to supply the senior management team and included all aspects of partnership, commercial and early-stage project management. Over a period of 12 months we:

  • Sourced strategic partners including top-tier supply chain and offtake partners

  • Led a global, multi-discipline team of 50+ experts and 15 advisors

  • Led site selection and concept development. Managed wind & layout, grid, transmission, harbour & installation, environment, land and supply chain studies

  • Led energy market studies, corporate PPA sounding and a route-to-market strategy

  • Managed the preparation of devex, capex and opex estimates. Developed a business case, conducted lender sounding and created project financing plans

  • Managed branding & communications, government & public relations and stakeholder engagement at federal, state and local levels. Identified 100+ stakeholder groups and engaged with over 25

  • Managed the preparation of detailed approval plans for site surveys and main project works. Led ‘EPBC Act’ environmental approvals and 'OEI Act' Feasibility License applications

  • Scoped site investigation requirements. Led procurement for offshore wind measurement, environmental, geophysical and geotechnical surveys
